A Photo Essay on the further deteration of Americas infrastructure, in great need of maintainence, the watermain break leading to water rationing in Montgomery and Prince Georges Counties, Maryland and weeks of traffic squeezing on a major D.C. commuter route.

Tuesday 5:30pm. Clean-up of the sinkhole caused by the watermain break on Monday night. About a 20 ft. section of Chevy Chase Lake Dr. sank about 15 to 20 feet on the edge of Connecticut Ave. Power and water are back on but gas for heat and cooking are still out for the neighborhood till Wednesday afternoon.
The winding road.

Part of unmaintained infrastructure of America in our very own block, erupted water like a geyser three to four stories in the air, closing part of a major road in the Washington area for days and they say perhaps weeks. A water main ruptured and quickly caused a sink hole across our street and spreading rocks and debris around the whole intersection at Chevy Chase Lake Drive and Connecticut Ave. Rocks and grit were left from a torrent of water filling the drive and running downhill to the end where it flowed a short distance into a creek where it joined the major flow of water from the top of the hill at Conn. Ave. which went directly into the creek.
The resulting lack of power, water and heat sent us to stay at Monica's sister's house in Rockville for two days. The whole experience for us including the inconvience and the delay in this week's Friday Showing, has actually been a rather pleaseant change of pace for us and a nice photo opportunity for me. I don't want you should worry.
